You Win Some, You Learn Some

If I could give you only one piece of advice, this would be it.

Life is about trying, failing, learning, trying again, and succeeding.

Rarely is someone an expert at something on the first try. Thomas Edison failed over 1,000 times before he finally created the incandescent light bulb. When asked, "How did it feel to fail 1,000 times?" Edison replied, "I didn’t fail 1,000 times. The light bulb was an invention with 1,000 steps.”

Michael Jordan was famously cut from his high school basketball team. He later said, "I've failed over and over again in my life. That is why I succeed.”

Before becoming the best-selling book series in the world, J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter manuscript was rejected by 12 different publishers.

Robert Kiyosaki, the author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, reminds us, “Successful people don’t fear failure but understand that it’s necessary to learn and grow from.”

It’s clear that failure is a part of success. It’s so easy to try a new venture, fail, be discouraged, and then never try it again.

When we look at others who are ‘experts' in their practice, we only see their successes. We don’t see the hours of work, the failures, the misses, and the defeats.

It’s like looking at an iceberg—you can only see 10 percent of the whole thing. The other 90 percent is under the surface, out of sight.

Remember these things next time you’re starting something new. You ARE NOT going to be great at it...initially. Persistence is more powerful than talent any day of the week.

Keep failing. Keep learning. Keep trying.

If you approach your goal with intense passion and absolutely refuse to quit, there is a 100 percent chance you will succeed.

Get out there, try, fail, learn, try again, and watch what happens.
