Sometimes in life, shit just happens. Things don’t always go as planned and totally unexpected events can happen at any time.
When something ‘bad’ happens, we are left with two choices: we can either feel bad for ourselves, or we can persevere.
We can do the easy thing and sit on our asses and be mad at the world for letting this terrible thing happen to us. We can kick rocks down the street with our hands in our pockets, waiting for someone to come and help us out.
Or, we can do the right thing.
We can keep our heads up and keep moving forward without missing a beat. It’s really just a matter of choosing to be negative or positive. There’s a lot of truth in the old saying of ‘looking at the glass half-full/empty'. Life is complicated and it’s not always going to be that simple, but we can still choose to not be negative.
Negativity is a choice. Being positive is a choice. Happiness is a choice.
I recently saw a cheesy motivational post on Facebook that had a picture of a ship. It explained how the boat will survive just fine, as long as it sits on top of the water and doesn’t let any of the water inside. The water on the outside of the ship is chaos, while the inside of the ship is peace and order. Humans are the same way; we are constantly coming in contact with chaos, negativity, hate, and stress, but it is our choice to prevent that from entering our ship. It is our choice to let the negativity float on by as we come away unharmed.
Negativity is a choice. Today, I encourage you to choose happiness.
