Believe in Yourself

I could talk about manifestation, the Law of Attraction, visualization, prayer, and so on… we can talk all day about the things we want, the things we wish we had, the people we wish we were… we can tell our friends and our families about our dreams and goals… which is all fine and dandy…

but here’s the thing, none of it works unless you do one thing:

Believe in yourself.

You can’t just ‘tell’ yourself that you believe in yourself, either. When you say you want something and you’re going to reach some goal, you must truly feel it inside your chest that it’s going to happen. You must be your own biggest fan.

As I mentioned in a recent post, the most important conversation you’ll ever have is with yourself. The same principle applies here. There’s a reason the airplane regulations tell you to put on your own oxygen mask before helping anyone else. You are of no help to others if you need help yourself...

It’s okay to be selfish when it comes to reaching milestones in your life.

Whether it’s losing weight, putting on muscle, walking more, earning a higher salary, landing a dream job, starting a business, traveling to more countries, finishing school, or simply being better than you were yesterday, you must first believe in yourself.

Here’s a simple formula for achieving your goals in life:

- First, establish your goal. What is it that you desire? Whatever it may be, make sure it’s something that gets you out of bed in the morning.

- Second, make a plan. What action is required? What steps will you take in order to get closer to that goal?

- Third, take action! This is one where a lot of people get stuck… you must take immediate and deliberate action. Don’t hesitate a second.

- Last and most important, have faith in yourself. Believe in your heart that you are capable of achieving that goal.

Don't forget to be patient. Your goals are big and they take time. Don’t get discouraged when things don't happen immediately. This whole thing is a marathon, not a sprint. Don’t forget that within a marathon, there is a series of smaller obstacles that must be overcome. Focus on the small tasks one at a time and slowly but surely you’ll be moving towards your goal.

Always remember, if someone else has done it before, that means you can do it too.
